Where HEA Romance Bookshop started

Happily Ever After Bookshop came to me after attending RARE London 23. Being in a room filled with people who loved reading the same genre of books as me was incredible. I could stand in a queue and talk to anyone and they would just get me. I have never felt so accepted in all of my life. And so HEA Bookshop started forming in my mind.

In April 2024, I had my first baby, Oscar. I had some time to think and organise the bookshop idea in my head. I was scared and nervous to say it out loud to anyone in case they laughed. I mentioned it to my book friend Claire (who is also an author we have stocked here under Claire Ivy) and she encouraged me to go for it. Here I am now, the start of HEA Bookshop.

HEA Bookshop is now one of the UK's first romance-based bookshops. Here we predominately champion small, new up-and-coming indie romance authors. I wanted to create a platform for them to share their work and for readers to discover new authors. We stock a wide range of romances from sweet, closed door all the way to the dark, spicy erotic books. I'm hoping we will have something for everyone.

I see great things for HEA Bookshop in the future. My bigger picture vision is to create an events space for people to come and discover their people like I did at RARE. This starts with our bookshop and book events I hope to attend and plan in the future.

  • Grow Awareness

My main goal will always be to promote romance books and showcase the wonderful indie authors writing romance around the world.

  • Create a Community

Building our HEA Tribe is a goal of mine. I want readers and authors to have a space to talk about all things romance. A space where we can all champion each others wins.

  • Beat the Stigma

Let's finally get rid of the stigma around romance novels. No they are not just for spice. They are great works of fiction that can help people raise awareness to hard hitting topics, help someone help their trauma. Or they can simply be just for fun.
